Fluorescence and Brightfield Imaging

The TRIO addresses all of the basic research needs for brightfield applications including H&E and IHC, incorporating the ability to apply multispectral separation and quantitation through optional image analysis software.  In addition, the TRIO enables multiplexed fluorescence imaging of up to 3 fluorophores covering many of the most popular fluorescence based imaging applications.  We also dramatically simplified the TRIO software to enable immediate operation and results generation.  From simple image capture to multispectral image analysis of your multiplexed experiments, in brightfield or fluorescence, TRIO will address all of the most common research experiments.

 
Three-color Imaging

The TRIO will image 3 colors simultaneously either in brightfield or fluorescence.  For Brightfield applications, any 3 chromogens can be used, and in fluorescence we have intentionally focused on only 3 specific wavelength ranges (Blue: 440-480 nm; Green: 500-560 nm; Red: 600-660 nm) that cover >90% of the applications currently being performed.  This will allow our customers to perform a typical fluorescence experiment using two labeled antibodies and one counterstain while still removing autofluorescence.  Our research shows that greater than 60% of all applications require 2 labels or less. 

 
Ease-of-Use

The Software has been designed to enable simple, instant image capture and experimental analysis.  Because the TRIO is a more affordable system, it will appeal to users across many diverse customer segments and application areas.   Our goal to satisfy all users enabled the development of a very simple, easy-to-use software program that provided 3 basic functions: System Setup, Experiment Setup and Run an Experiment.  Minimal training and retraining will be required , even for the infrequent or non-technical user.
 

Image Analysis

Image and quantitative analysis can be accomplished using inForm or the user can export images directly to many of the most popular image analysis programs such as Image J and Metamorph.  We enabled this methodology because our research showed that >50% of the basic research users performed limited image analysis and only required basic quantitation, and preferred to export image files directly to the simple programs they currently utilize.  Early next year, we will be introducing specific packaged modules for based on the inForm product that will address user needs in areas such as simple quantitation, co-localization, and tissue segmentation, which users can purchase as options for the TRIO platform.
